Being a group leader is the ultimate Roots & Shoots member experience. You'll join the ranks of thousands of dedicated adults who share a common desire to help mentor, motivate and empower today's youth to learn, grow and take action to build a better future. You can form a group with your family, organize at your school or recruit members from your church or neighborhood. Getting started is easy with the Roots & Shoots Handbook, and you’ll find ideas and inspiration from our Project Database, Discussion Boards, Campaigns and activity guides.

Don't have time to take on the full responsibility of leading your own group? Sign up for an individual Roots & Shoots membership instead. With our flexible program, you can determine your own level of involvement, pursue your own interests and define your own activities. As an individual member you won't lead a group, but you'll have access to the full range of Roots & Shoots tools and materials to learn more about our program and connect with our global Roots & Shoots member network. And you'll receive our eNewsletters and newsletters to keep you updated on what R&S groups are doing around the world.

Join an Existing Roots & Shoots Group
If joining an existing Roots & Shoots group feels like the best option for you, try using our Find a Group function to find a Roots & Shoots group in your area that is accepting new members, then send a message to that group requesting to join. Even if you don't find a group in your neighborhood, connecting with a group leader in your region or state could give you the ideas and inspiration you need to get your own group started!
