LOGO AND LOGOTYPE
The Roots & Shoots logo and logotype (signature) comprise the main elements of the program’s identity, communicating who we are in a concise and consistent manner. There are two components to the signature: the
logo and the logotype.

The term “Roots & Shoots logo” refers to the icon only, not to the logotype. Sometimes it is appropriate to use the logo independently of the logotype. The independent use of elements must be reviewed and approved by the Roots & Shoots Headquarters Staff.

The logotype refers to the words “Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots” and is used in conjunction with the logo. The logotype is not just a typeset font, it is a unique art element specifically designed for the Roots & Shoots.

CLEARSPACE
The identity must stand alone. It may not be used as part of a title or in conjunction with other artwork, such as sponsor logos. A minimum amount of space must surround the identity.

The height of the logotype (x) is the measurement from the top of the tallest letter to the bottom of the lowest letter. A space equal to “x” should be kept clear around all
sides.

The height of the logo (x) is the measurement from the tallest point of the logo to the lowest point of the logo. A space equal to “x” should be kept clear around all sides.

The height of the logotype (x) is the measurement from the top of the tallest letter to the bottom of the lowest letter. A space equal to “x” should be kept clear around all sides.

MINIMUM SIZE
The minimum permissible size of the preferred horizontal configuration is 1.5” in width, from the farthest left side of the logo to the farthest right side of the logotype. The minimum permissible size of the vertical signature is 1” in width from farthest left to farthest right.

LOGO
The minimum permissible size of the logo is 0.5” in width.

LOGOTYPE
The minimum permissible size of the logotype is 1” in width.

COLOR USAGE
The color usage specifications can be applied to both the preferred horizontal signature as well as the Logotype and Logo.

STANDARD COLOR APPLICATION
The Roots & Shoots identity can be reproduced in two-color, blue and black versions. In all cases, the background must be light enough to ensure legibility.

REVERSED APLICATION
The Roots & Shoots identity can be reversed in white. Use the reversed version when the background is black or another dark color.

INCORRECT USAGE
You may resize the signature, logo or logotype proportionally, but do not alter the artwork in any way. At no time should the integrity of the identity be compromised.

The logotype may never be used to represent the words “Jane Goodsll’s Roots & Shoots” in text, whether it appears in a headline or body copy.

FILE FORMATS
Reproductive artwork for the logo is available to employees and others who agree to use the logo according to these guidelines.

Whenever possible, use the .eps file format. In most cases it will give you the best results. The .gif format is meant for online use only. Do not scale art up in size. Do not use for
professional printing. The .tif format is meant for onscreen
presentation and placement in Word documents only. Do not scale art up in size. Do not use for professional printing.

It is unacceptable to use any format that will
leave the logo dithered or jagged in any
form.
