What is each member’s commitment to the Youth Leadership Initiative?

  • Serve a two year term on the council
  • Participate in Fall Outreach including regional events, conferences, campaigns and summits
  • Attend and participate in the annual Spring Training and Orientation Retreat
  • Achieve annual Individual Goals set at Spring Training and Orientation Retreat
  • Participate in and fundraise for the Youth Leadership Immersion Experience in Tanzania (in applicable years)
  • Receive and respond to council emails a minimum of twice a week

What are the duties of a Youth Leadership Initiative member?

  • Help guide the direction of Roots & Shoots on a regional and national level
  • Support Roots & Shoots through active outreach
  • Support youth campaigns and events
  • Assist with fundraising for gatherings and events
  • Play an active role on the R&S website
  • Work toward annual individual and council leadership goals
  • Present R&S to the general public, schools and partners
  • Fulfill a general time commitment of 5-15 hours per month, not including major events
  • Participate in council initiatives and projects
  • Attend and participate in at least 10 out of 12 monthly meetings/conference calls
