International Day of Peace
Peace for All—People, Animals and the Environment

Following Dr. Jane's lead as a UN Messenger of Peace, members and friends of Roots & Shoots are called to celebrate peace each year in honor of United Nations International Day of Peace.

So that families can celebrate together, most Roots & Shoots celebrations are held on the weekend closest to September 21, the official International Day of Peace.

In 2011, celebrations are being planned for September 18. How will you celebrate?

Here are some ideas to help get you started:

Remember, no matter what you do, take lots of pictures or video, and share your story when you're all done!

In the past, celebrations have been held in cities across the globe, including:

Barcelona, Spain Los Angeles, USA
Boston, USA Madrid, Spain
Brussels, Belgium
New York City, USA
Chicago, USA Rome, Italy
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Toronto, Canada
Hong Kong, SAR, China
Singapore, Singapore
London, United Kingdom
Vienna, Austria

Where will the doves fly this year?

Dear Friends,

Every year, the United Nations International Peace Day is held on 21 September, when people around the world express their desire for peace.
