One Million Hours of Service One Million Hours of Service - Introductory Video from the Jane Goodall Institute on Vimeo. Since the beginning of the 2011-12 school year, the Roots & Shoots network has already reached 49,688 hours of service! Learn more about how these hours are calculated.
When we organize service projects with our Roots & Shoots groups we often don’t stop to count how much hard work and effort goes into making them successful. When we do we see that our projects often take more time than we would ever have imagined. And every hour spent toward making a project successful matters, every hour is important and every hour counts. In the One Million Hours of Service Campaign, every Roots & Shoots group is called to keep track of the amount of time projects take, and combine them with the rest of the hours from of the global network, to accomplish one simple goal: By the end of 2012, the Roots & Shoots members and groups, will, working together as one global network, complete enough projects to achieve a total of one million hours of service.
