Through the hardwork and dedication of Roots & Shoots members and supporters around the globe, the ReBirth The Earth Trees for Tomorrow Campaign has planted more than 3,000 trees and raised over $10,000 to support tree nurseries in Tanzania. This success can only be attributed to the entirely youth-initiated, youth-led and youth-driven support of the Roots & Shoots network! Great work everyone! Find out more. About the Campaign
Campaign Concept
This campaign will help Roots & Shoots members in Tanzania start five new tree nurseries while encouraging groups in the United States and other countries to take action by planting native trees in their own communities.
Groups in the United States will seek sponsorships for every tree they plant. This sponsorship money will support the establishment of Roots & Shoots tree nurseries in Tanzania and other tree planting efforts in the United States
Our Goals
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 (USD), which will establish long-term tree nurseries in the five regions of Tanzania. If we surpass our goal, we will continue to support Roots & Shoots tree planting projects around the world.
We also aim to plant at least 3,000 trees in North America.
Global Impact
Nurseries provide local Roots & Shoots groups in Tanzania with seedlings, serve as a hub for sustainable forestry and conservation education and generate income to support Roots & Shoots throughout Tanzania.
The ReBirth the Earth: Trees for Tomorrow campaign will help in both Tanzania and the United States. The trees planted will help offset pollution levels in both countries and help reduce the effects of global warming.
Roots & Shoots community-based tree projects will increase habitat for animals and benefit the human community.
A Note from Bryan Lairmore Roots & Shoots California Youth Leadership Council Campaign Chairperson
I am happy to announce the launch of ReBirth the Earth: Trees for Tomorrow, our newest youth campaign. Ten Youth Leaders from the United States created this campaign in response to a trip to Tanzania during the summer of 2006. While there, we joined local Roots & Shoots groups in planting trees and learned about a true need for more nurseries in Tanzania.
We asked if there was a way to connect Roots & Shoots Tanzania to our annual youth campaigns. With great excitement Tanzania staff replied that they would love to be able to increase the number of tree nurseries and provide members with opportunities to plant more trees. I hope to have your support. Together we can make this happen!
*Panda Miti means "plant trees" in Swahili, the national language of Tanzania.
