DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

Do you know which disasters are likely in your community and resources that are offered to increase preparedness? People around the world are facing disasters in their communities including natural occurrences, such as a hurricane, and other types of emergencies, such as power outages. With the help of local, national, and international organizations, community members can create evacuation plans or assist those who are struggling to recover from a catastrophe.

Create a community map that identifies your evacuation plan. Include your local police station, fire station, hospital, and safe shelter. Determine which roads you would take to exit your town or to find emergency assistance, keeping in mind you might need to use alternative forms of transportation. Want to make sure that the rest of your community is prepared too? Share your map with friends, family, and your community on social media!
