Today, Bridge the Gap TV is proudly launching the long-awaited series premiere, Bridge the Gap to Uganda!  Bridge the Gap is a video series that fosters intercultural conversation and empowers viewers to  take actions that move the world forward.

Celebrate Earth Day 2012 with Disneynature’s “Chimpanzee,” a film that tells the story of a curious young chimp who plays, explores, makes friends, and overcomes great obstacles. The Jane Goodall Institute and Disneynature's conservation program, “See 'Chimpanzee,' Save Chimpanzees” will help us continue our efforts to protect wild chimpanzees.

Arlington, Va. – Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, the Jane Goodall Institute’s global environmental and humanitarian youth program, today formally announced the launch of the 2011-2012 Global Youth Campaign, One Million Hours of Service.

Hosting the North America Training Summit in New Orleans, the city of 'locals,' it was important to the Jane Goodall Institute to connect with local organizations to collaborate on programming. The Make it Right Foundation, founded by actor Brad Pitt, and a leader in efforts to rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward of the city, will join the Institute in presenting the Summit next month.

This month’s Bookshelf selection, Planting the Trees of Kenya by Claire A. Nivola, tells the story of Wangari Maathai. Maathai was the first woman from Africa to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. To honor her passing, this month's book inspires readers with her incredible story.

Over the last nine months, members of Roots & Shoots Youth Leadership Councils have been preparing to launch the next youth campaign, One Million Hours of Service. Their process for developing this campaign is a perfect example of how youth voice in incorporated in Roots & Shoots.

Final preparations for International Day of Peace celebrations are underway, and in less than a week, Roots & Shoots members and friends will be picking up their Giant Peace Dove Puppets and carrying them at events around the globe.

Each year the members of Roots & Shoots Youth Leadership Councils gather for a week of training and service. This year the councils worked with Friends of the Cedar River Watershed in Seattle, Wash. to study the effectiveness of local watershed conservation projects.

Bill Wallauer, the Jane Goodall Institute's Research Videographer and Wildlife Cameraman is joining Roots & Shoots as a keynote speaker at the North America Training Summit to share stories about the chimpanzees of Gombe, and about the work of the Jane Goodall Institute in Africa. It’s that time of year when kids all over the country have to trade in bathing suits for text books and get ready for the new school year. Luckily for Roots & Shoots members, back-to-school also means back to doing awesome projects with your Roots & Shoots group!

Join the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) and Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots as we celebrate International Youth Day!

For the past two decades, Dr. Jane Goodall and JGI have supported the efforts of young people across the globe who are making this world a better place for people, animals and the environment through Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots, JGI's international youth program.

It's harvest time again, and gathering the crops has the team on Pine Ridge busy! With 16 community gardens throughout the reservation, and over 160,000 square feet occupied by the gardens, there's a lot of work being done there to cultivate the vegetables, and cultural heritage.

A group of western pond turtles raised at the Oregon Zoo will be released into the Columbia River Gorge next week, according to wildlife and zoo officials.

The release is part of the Western Pond Turtle Recovery Plan, started in 1991 by Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The Oregon Zoo joined as a collaborator in 2000.

From Thursday, August 4 through Sunday, August 7, 2011, Bridge the Gap TV, a new video series which focuses on intercultural dialogue by highlighting stories of everyday life from the around the world will launch to 45 million homes in 80 markets across the United States.

It’s that time of year again! School will soon be back in session and Roots & Shoots has a new curriculum-based service learning program to help you incorporate service into your classroom lessons.

For the seventh year in a row, representatives from the five Roots & Shoots Youth Leadership Councils gathered this week in Seattle, Wash. for the annual National Youth Leadership Retreat. During their time in the Northwest, the council members participated in training workshops, a service project in the Cedar River Watershed, and celebrated the 20th anniversary of Roots & Shoots.
