Bridge the Gap TV Series Premiere

Today, Bridge the Gap TV is proudly launching the long-awaited series premiere, Bridge the Gap to Uganda!  Bridge the Gap is a video series that fosters intercultural conversation and empowers viewers to  take actions that move the world forward.


Disneynature's "Chimpanzee" - In Theaters April 20, 2012!

Celebrate Earth Day 2012 with Disneynature’s “Chimpanzee,” a film that tells the story of a curious young chimp who plays, explores, makes friends, and overcomes great obstacles. The Jane Goodall Institute and Disneynature's conservation program, “See 'Chimpanzee,' Save Chimpanzees” will help us continue our efforts to protect wild chimpanzees.

Local Collaboration, Global Connections: Working with the Make It Right Foundation

Hosting the North America Training Summit in New Orleans, the city of 'locals,' it was important to the Jane Goodall Institute to connect with local organizations to collaborate on programming. The Make it Right Foundation, founded by actor Brad Pitt, and a leader in efforts to rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward of the city, will join the Institute in presenting the Summit next month.

 Gardens On Pine Ridge Bring Community Together: Grow Interest in Cultural History

It's harvest time again, and gathering the crops has the team on Pine Ridge busy! With 16 community gardens throughout the reservation, and over 160,000 square feet occupied by the gardens, there's a lot of work being done there to cultivate the vegetables, and cultural heritage.


 Endangered turtles to get home in Columbia Gorge

A group of western pond turtles raised at the Oregon Zoo will be released into the Columbia River Gorge next week, according to wildlife and zoo officials.

The release is part of the Western Pond Turtle Recovery Plan, started in 1991 by Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The Oregon Zoo joined as a collaborator in 2000.


New Video Series, Bridge the Gap TV Launches in 45 Million Homes

Youth Leaders Gather in Seattle for Retreat

For the seventh year in a row, representatives from the five Roots & Shoots Youth Leadership Councils gathered this week in Seattle, Wash. for the annual National Youth Leadership Retreat. During their time in the Northwest, the council members participated in training workshops, a service project in the Cedar River Watershed, and celebrated the 20th anniversary of Roots & Shoots.

Last week marked the 100 day countdown to United Nations International Day of Peace 2011. On September 21 each year people around the globe take time to honor, observe and celebrate peace.  This year is especially important because it is the 30th anniversary of the first United Nations resolution to establish the Day of Peace.
