The weather has been so warm lately that ESP Roots & Shoots decided to make and sell milkshakes during lunch. The milkshakes were wildly popular, and many people returned for seconds and thirds! Although the milkshakes were quite tasty, ESP R&S encountered a few problems: they needed more blenders, the cups were too large for the amount they were charging, they needed to assign roles, and they needed to begin making the milkshakes a little earlier to work more efficiently. The biggest problem, though? The school loves milkshakes and they were unprepared for the huge demand. The next time, they had more blenders, everyone had a specific duty, and they had twice as much ice cream and slightly smaller cups. They also took staff pre-orders for delivery and improved the presentation with swirls of syrup and slices of strawberry or chunks of cookie. The milkshakes sold quickly and the results were astounding. On the first day, they made $30 in profit. On the second day, just by making these few changes, they made $140 in profit! The event was a huge success not only because of the amount of money raised, but because of the skills they developed. They worked more closely as a team, assigned roles, worked on their leadership and time management skills, and learned the importance of planning ALL details, big and small.
