Dr. Jane Goodall, renowned primatologist, conservationist and humanitarian, personally invited 100 of the most outstanding young people from around the world to join her April 19-25, at Walt Disney World® in Orlando, Florida, USA for Jane Goodall's Global Youth Summit - 2008. This week-long exploration of how each individual can make a difference in protecting the future of our planet involved participants from 28 countries on six continents.
The summit included participation by Dr. Jane Goodall herself, youth-led panels, roundtable discussions, workshops, keynote speakers and other activities. Participants examined the relationships between the environment, water issues, poverty and wildlife conservation.
The attendees were outstanding young people, with a strong history of community service, demonstrated leadership qualities, ability to articulate ideas and concepts and a commitment to returning home with a solid plan of action over the coming year.
