Through the Roots & Shoots website, you can explore, learn, connect and take action. The first thing to do is log in. If you're a registered member and have forgotten your password or haven't yet logged in to the website, you can create a new password here. Not a member? Start a group today! Then, follow these five simple steps make the most of the Roots & Shoots website. 1. Update your profile. Once you've logged in, go to your online profile to change your password. Indicate whetheryou are accepting new members and whether you would like to be contacted via private message by other website users. Then, sign up your group members. Up to 50 of your group members can gain access to all the online member benefits too! Just go to the "Group Members" tab in your profile. Then, scroll down to "Invite Additional Members." Enter the names and email addresses of your members, and they'll receive an email inviting them to sign up as a member of your group. Keep your profile up to date so you and your group members continue to receive the latest Roots & Shoots news.
2. Utilize the Resource Center. Roots & Shoots members have many written resources at their fingertips in PDFs, Word documents and online articles. Once you've logged in, navigate to the Resource Center from the Resources section and scroll down to the resource you'd like to view or download. From sample proposal letters to the indispensable Roots & Shoots Handbook, the Resource Center can quench your thirst for information.
3. Search the Find a Group directory. Click "Find a Group" at the top of the screen, and you can search by group name, location, type or age range. Registered Roots & Shoots members can also send private messages to group leaders who are willing to be contacted. Try searching for groups in your hometown or in a faraway place that your Roots & Shoots group or class has been studying. Remember, if you indicate in your online profile that you would like to be contacted, other Roots & Shoots members will be able to private message you through Find a Group.
4. Explore the Project Database. Accessible from the Resources section, the interactive Project Database is a record of all the cool things that Roots & Shoots members do to make the world a better place. Once your group completes a project or activity, share it with us and with the Roots & Shoots network by logging in and submitting a Project Report to the Project Database. You can also get inspiration for new activities by searching through other groups' projects. With a few quick clicks, you'll learn what groups are doing from New York to Shanghai to Dar es Salaam!
5. Get on the Discussion Boards. Accessible from the Resources section, the Discussion Boards are where the action's at. Check out the public forms and members-only forums to chate with other Roots & Shoots members, share ideas and inspire one another to make a difference. Need a tutorial in online discussion?
