 Almost One Million Polystyrene Trays per Year? "Let's not," say Illinois Roots & Shoots Youth

  The "Peaceweavers" Roots & Shoots group in Evanston, Illinois, estimates that school districts 65 and 202, combined, use about 4,000 polystyrene trays per day. That's 80,000 per month, 960,000 per year. Given the non-biodegradable, non-recyclable properties of polystyrene, the students (grades 3-5) have good reason to be concerned.
 

 Roots & Shoots Youth Raise $40,000 for Orphan Chimpanzees

  Orphan chimpanzees in Africa will get a new place to rest their heads thanks to the remarkable efforts of hundreds of Roots & Shoots youth who raised $40,000 for a new dormitory at our Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo.
 

 A Perfect Fit: Roots & Shoots Partners with RESPECT International

Roots & Shoots-USA and Roots & Shoots-Canada recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with RESPECT International, an organization that works with young people around the world to raise awareness and encourage activism for refugee issues.
