Kern County Animal Service Adoption Event

Wonderful. On September 16, 2017 members showed up and helped at the Kern County Animal Shelter Donation Day and our members were there to collect donations and our president donated the adoption fee for two lucky families to adopt dogs. Our club donated over $127.98 to the foundation. This event led to our school hosting a drive at our school needed supplies for dogs and cats brought to the shelter. From October 16 to 30, 2017 we collected milk bones, clean towels, and nonplastic toys for the animals brought to the shelter. Our student body of around 800 participated in the drive.

Humane Society

Lively crew of 22 kids were a little hard to keep focused, but they ended up with food great birdhouses. I enlisted my fifth grade members as leaders as we assembled the birdhouses and ran the bake sale. The students collected money and then received a tour of the Humane Society facility.

Help Homeless Animals

It went well! Gathering pet supplies ended up being a bit of a problem because cat litter and large bags of dog food are rather challenging for 8-10 year olds to lift and carry. The dog bowl donations were a hit with the local community as well, since it is a very dog friendly town.

Westside Cares

Our project went well. There were about 15 kids who participated by making signs, and gathering food. We then took a field trip to both our school Food Pantry and Westside Cares where they got a tour and learned about all the services the organization provides.
