The Problem

I wanted this project to be the first annual collection of all non-garbage items form the dormitories on campus. I want to keep all useful items out of the landfill and into the hands of people in the community who really need them. Saving space in the landfill and recycling as much as possible. I contacted the city and had two 96 gallon tipper carts set at all four locations for recyclables. My hope was that once everyone saw the massive amount of stuff that the school wastes they would become educated on what to do with their used items instead of throwing them away.

Our Plan

1)Keep non-garbage items out of the landfill, especially illegal-to-dump items like electronics 2)Donate all food, clothing, furniture and working electronics to the local food pantry, homeless shelter, & thrift stores. 3)Recycle all broken metal and electronics to protect our soil and water. 4)Save the school money on expensive dumpster fees.
