What is your wish for this project?
Los Angeles is in the severe throes of a multi-year drought. Meteorologists explains that we will soon - hopefully - benefit from a desperately needed El Nino weather cycle, which will bring much needed heavy rains. We need to identify, map and design systems and locations to collect, store and use the water and systems to address this serious environmental problem. The audit and mapping we conduct will be used to make visuals for our school community.
How did it go?
The project needed to be modified - El Nino did not come. Southern California is still in the throes of a severe drought, so I needed to significantly alter the scope of the campaign. At that point however it went well. The students, community and many of my colleagues collaborated on a project that has long term, meaningful benefits. The campaign is sustainable and will start up next school year.
