Forest Orchids: admire them, don’t touch them

The Problem

We, members of the young forrest rangers, live in a touristic area, known for its natural beauty, its major waterfall Gocta, and its biodiversity. We wish to inform and guide visitors to respect our environment and learn improved behaviors. Cutting orchids to take them out of their habitat is one of the problems we face. WE WISH TO STOP THIS!

Our Plan

In July, during our national holiday, we are organizing the first social mobilization campaign, our towns haver ever had. We have a main message and an illustration of an orchid representative to the many varieties we have. We will have a few posters hanged in strategic places to inform the visitor about the situation and what we expect from them. Tshirts with orchid illustration in front, and main message in the back, will be sold and wore by the towns children and families, carrying the message: "Orquideas del bosque: las miras, no las tocas". Tshirt sales income, will be invested in a new reforestation project with endemic species (1ha.) that is one of our projects for 2015 (Gocta Forrest Rangers Program)
