The Problem

Regal Fritillaries are an indicator of the health of the prairie. Our wish for this project is to increase the population of the Regal Fritillary butterfly which is found in limited areas. The area where we live, is one. The butterflies lay several eggs but if the tiny caterpillars aren't able to find violets near, they will not survive. Our wish is to plant enough violets in an area where they have chosen to live so that we can increase the population. Regal surveys, which have been kept over the past years, will show our impact.

Our Plan

We will dig up violets from a field, transfer them to vials, and transplant to a prepared plot.
