We will also be participating in Earth hour in our classroom and home as well as water bottle free day to reduce our carbon footprint. We will also help clean up our neighbourhood and school yard.
In partnership with alternative transport groups (such as bike sharing companies, the Metro, etc.), my students will conduct outreach efforts to spread awareness on the personal and environmental benefits of using renewable energy for transport. I will do this project in two phases. During the first phase, students will build a solar-powered device to explore the benefits and challenges of renewable energy. During the second phase, students will advocate for renewable energy in their community by creating flyers and posters, sharing their learning with community partners, and hosting public presentations.

Make the world a better place for this generation and yet to come. Wanna be a pride as Madam JANE GOODALL
Eco Ryders will host four rounds of three week long comprehensive environmental justice classes. The classes will review issues that effect local Bronx youth (example... Lead poisoning, asthma rates, zoning laws) and review how these issues connect to the environment and to policy. Each week will go over an umbrella subject moving from Food&Health to the Environment and then to Policy. Each week will look at the umbrella subject from a local, national and then global perspective in the hopes of showing students how all these issues connect. In addition students will engage in hands on stewardship by helping to maintain community gardens and perform lead testing in community food gardens. As a reward and intensive for joining Eco Ryders students will be taught how to design their own skateboards for free. We like using skateboarding as a tool to attract interest because it also helps to promote healthy living.
It will bring beautiful trees to my neighborhood. I will work with the city of Los Angles free tree program and TreePeople to get as many trees planted as I can.
The project is to design a city that functions solely on alternative forms of energy. Students will build vehicles using solar, wind, water and biofuels in a green city. They will use mainly Lego kits to make solar cars, trains, cranes, wind generators and water turbines to provide power to the "Green City".

Basically a megablocks is when you take a few large city blocks in an area and prevent large vehicles like vans or trucks from entering forcing them to go around the perimeter. The speed limit inside the space is also limited to ten mph for any other vehicles. curbside parking is also replaced with underground parking allowing more space for pedestrians and lowering air pollution.
Our project will help in planting six trees on a barren street that contains very few plants. Our club is partnered with a non-profit organization called TreePeople who will help our volunteers learn the process of properly planting the trees. Many of our volunteers have the title as a Supervisor Volunteer because they have had experience with planting and caring for numerous trees. Their role is to assist any volunteer that is still unsure of the process or is their first time in planting trees. We will promote our event to our club to receive as many volunteers as we can get. Our club is always ready and happy to help the environment, and our supervisors will help in overseeing the event.
