My students will take a quick tour around the map they created and analyze what needs to be changed at their level to improve our community's environment. We actually discussed what they (students) can do, and many of them were thinking to clean the area and plant whenever they can.

Our students will work in committees to develop a plan, implement it, acquire and analyze data to quantify our success, and actively inform our school community about the importance of reducing and recycling. Students will reward participants with recognition and prizes for helping green our campus.

We plan to get dirty and closer to our earth by preserving the California natives, planting other drought-tolerant varieties, and making this part of our campus more aesthetically appealing or our community and neighbors who travel through.

Our project will achieve our dreams of a healthier environment by educating people at the Oakland Zoo. We will focus on the negative effects plastics have on our oceans and what we can change about our daily lives in order to lessen those effects. As well, we will (like we've done in the past) organize more beach cleanups periodically throughout the year to get people from all over the community to be more involved. Beach cleanups are a great way of educating the public about plastic pollution and also gives people a chance to help out. These cleanups bring everyone together to make our world a better place! We have also created a fun station for our Teen Wild Guides to volunteer every weekend! We have teen volunteers who walk around the entire zoo and pick up trash that people leave behind. Trash can be very dangerous for the animals at our zoo and we don't want any of it to find its way into any of the exhibits. Not only will this make the zoo a more beautiful and natural environment, it will also show the visitors what they can do to help maintain the zoo's beauty and fun!

My group of students set up recycling boxes within the school for materials that could be reused for art projects. After months of collection, we would like to use these recycled materials to create beautiful cards, artwork, and placemats to inspire and encourage the senior citizens in our community. We have an aging population and many who do not have family or loved ones close by. Together our club decided to make videos to play on our school announcements explaining the importance of our project as a way to enlist the help from our entire school of 650 students with the project. We are partnering with a local church, nursing home, and Meals on Wheels with the intent to provide approx. 250 pieces of spring art made from 100% recycled materials to each organization to be distributed to their seniors with love from our school. The items will be picked up by members of the above organizations during our April club meeting. Invited to our meeting are multiple community members speaking on the importance of recycling and philanthropy within our homes, schools, communities, and globe.

We will know if we've been successful if our town puts recycling in all of the parks and recreation sites in town. Our students can take pictures of the new recycling stations in town.

We will continue to reduce and recycle organic matters using the compost bin we created. We will use the compost in our student built raised garden bed near the lunch benches and plant flowers which will invited pollinators such as butterflies and hummingbirds.
