I am a young reporter for Bear essentials News. My goal for this project was for my team and I to meet and be inspired by Dr. Goodall. The lecture was interesting, inspiring and motivational. I learned about her grit as a young lady and determination and dedication to conversation of wildlife. Her mission to advocate and educate the world about the importance of taking care of our planet, ourselves and the wildlife that share it. I hope that my readers and subscribers will be inspired by Dr. Goodall the way I was.

We gave students and staff a 2-week period in which to donate food. This allowed the momentum to build quickly, and students could see the progress of our "competition" as food items quickly piled up. We set up boxes to mimic bar graphs. The more food that was donated, the higher up the "bars" would extend.

This spring the children will visit Heartland Farm Sanctuary, a caring farm for injured farm animals. The children will learn what foods the animals eat and help prepare their meal, as well as feed them. They will visit the animals and learn about what they need to get healthy. They will also learn first hand about some of the medical treatments for the animals.

We will learn about endangered animals. We will remember The One and Only Ivan and how the animals were treated and how the story unfolded to take care of Ivan and Ruby. We will learn about animals today and ways to care for them and protect their habitats.
