The MET has been involved with the International Coastal Cleanup for just over 4 years and will continue to do so in the future. We have created a sub-committee within the MET Environmental Committee to begin implementing future cleanups.
There is a local, Brooklyn-based nursery/gardening store (Natty Garden). I have been there before and know that they have what we need in stock. We would take a field trip there, return to school, and have club members stock designated classrooms with the new greenery.
The participating students will now be in charge of motivating their chosen grade...signage, Q & A, rewarding conversations, etc (Let's see what they come up with, yeah?) There will be posters, collection stations for other individuals, regular collection times for the vested and badged collectors and their classes/grades. The students and I are very motivated. and excited as these projects are so important, in our school, community and, particularly, in this area of Queens!
Bring the beauty and art of music to the community. We will work with children daily to ensure the musical education aspect is broadened in their span of life. The opportunities will be visible to all qualified families in the community.
Kids Need Support 2 Garden and Site Restoration will bring awareness, provide resources to children with many health disparities to combat their diseases, by cleaning the grounds, recycling, maintaining our gardens, painting, sanitizing the grounds for our Get Fit Program and Healing Gardens to succeed. We will take the food from the gardens, each child sits with the nutritionist to learn how to eat healthy and promote overall wellness. The children will cook the foods in the kitchen with a chef, who will teach them the purpose for gardening, living well and budgeting. The children will take foods to a local food pantry / shelter to combat malnutrition issues in the community. This will assist in our efforts to engage our community in Wellness programs, Awareness to Special Needs, and Building Stronger Communities overall.
in my project ,we will plant flowers around the school compound in different flower pots to make the school compound attractive and also engage some of our students in flower farming.
In order to get the most out of the experience, we will make it into a fun game with prizes! We will split up into teams and spread out in different areas around our school, and meet back at a designated location afterwards. Those who collected the most trash will be awarded special prizes.
I will deliver a talk and presentation to my grade 6 class at Esther Starkman School. I will also be handing out hand made pan flits to the class. I will have a craft sale at my local park to raise awareness to the community. All the money will be donated to the David Suzuki Foundation in order to push towards saving the bees in Canada. http://www.davidsuzuki.org/
This project will be for the 2015/2016 school year with the hope that community members will want to keep it going in future years.
My project will raise money for local animal shelters. We are starting small and will slowly expand. We will have fundraisers. A blog and You-tube page is being set up. The blog is called "Pinky's Puppy Blog." Our beginning goal is to provide better living conditions in shelters, since getting all animals a family will be harder to reach.
