Our project is to create an activity book to educate children about Earth Day and about the environment. Members will create a puzzle book by hand drawing pictures and combining them on the computer. Ecoharmony will also host fundraising activities to raise funds to cover the cost of printing the activity books. We will either contact the librarian to see if we can again set up a table at the library to distribute activity books, speak with an elementary school principal to see if any of his classes would be interested in having some activity books, or we will apply to the city's Parks & Recreation Department to see if we can get a booth to pass out our activity books at the Earth Day Festival.
Bring a community together that is so far broken that it may be the only thing to bring them back together. Community members, city council, district members and students/faculty members will develop a much better working relationship while working together for a much larger cause.
To stop vandalism and destruction, and encourage school beautification, the class will create 1-minute skit presentations showing various instances of the actions taking place, and record them using a video camera. These videos will then be put onto CDs and distributed to other classrooms so other students can be made aware and encouraged to stop their negative behavior. They also plan to start "junior janitors" to have students make sure their peers are not littering or wasting food at lunchtime. To promote kind behavior and "the golden rule," they will make posters around the school with positive messages.

We will send out letters to the community leaders, the sanitation dept. and the police dept. We will conduct a short survey around the school and the community.
16 of our classrooms will each be assigned a garden bed (or a portion of a garden bed) as well as a part of the outdoor learning space to cultivate and maintain. Classes will work during their scheduled time on a weekly basis. Classes will tie curriculum and Missouri State Learning Standards to their work in the garden, bringing together language arts, math, science, and social studies to their experiences in the outdoor classroom.
Students in Grades 7, 8, & 9 at Costa Verde International School will be working with the community of Sayulita to reduce and recycle plastic bottles. This will include an awareness campaign and working to set up recycling stations.
Kindergarten Students at Costa Verde International School will adopt the local community garden, plant new plants and trees, and become the custodians for the garden for years to come.
