If our Project is successful it will help everyone in our Valley to live more healthful lives. If we do not want the Inversion type climate that has overtaken the Wasatch Front then we, on the Wasatch Back need to start planting trees to off set the carbon footprint created by our fast growing population. Please plant at least one tree. I own 1/3rd of an acre and I have planted four trees with plenty of space for more.

We aim to accomplish our goals by creating an activity book for young children. This activity book, created by members, will be engaging and fun, filled with puzzles, games, and important facts. We hope to pass out these activity books by setting up a booth at the city's annual Earth Day Festival. To attract people to come up to our booth, we will create an Earth Day Ball Game where young children playing will get an activity book and all children and winners will also get a globe key chain.

We will be designing a succulent and herb garden that will be sustained by the AVID class. The volunteers will receive a Gardening 101 workshop on the process and why it is important to have a drought-friendly garden. We will bring succulents and herbs from a nursery that the volunteers will plant after cleaning out the dry plants and weeds and loosening the soil. Our volunteers will also install a stone walkway and small fence to supplement the aesthetic of the garden. Concurrent to the garden project, we will have volunteers cleaning the campus as part of the beautification portion of the day. The school will be able to benefit from having a community garden and the teachers will be able to incorporate curriculum and garden visits. At the end of our day of service, we will have fostered a sense of giving among our community members and raised awareness about the importance of sustainable garden practices.

Our project will teach kids that they can come together in their communities and plant seeds in their homes or even in their schools. We have asked our classmates in school and at home to help us gather recyclable bottles and yogurt containers. After we collected, we sorted, cut holes for the water to drain, and even added string to some of the planters. In the end, we will attend a harvest festival and get kids and family members involved and do a hands on activity. We will assist the kids in making their own little planter to have in their homes. The kids who participate in this we learn that doing things like having little planters we help us in having fresh air and it would look beautiful in a home.
