This project will help rescued dogs find loving homes. We will do this by inviting people to come see the dogs on November 10th. They can get to know them and, possibly and hopefully, adopt one of the dogs.
I wish to help fundraise money to help care for rescued dogs.
Cleaning beaches on every weekend, planting trees and flowers on the areas where we will be allowed to do so during the weekends and conducting seminars at the schools on how to preserve the environment through our club.
We volunteered this summer in a junior gardening program with students from Waukegan. We helped to teach about the importance of composting and how it can give back important nutrients to our soil and decrease hazards to the environment. We also picked up fresh produce from areas where it was not needed and delivered it to food pantries and community organizations that distributed it to people who do need it. Watching the "Wasted", Anthony Bourdain, documentary was also very helpful in understanding the problem. We also gleaned at a local farm and delivered that produce to people who needed it.
Students will come up with solutions for improving wildlife habitat on this property and solving some of the issues related to wildlife. This will include coming up with proposals for how to manage the beaver dams that are causing flooding issues in the close upstream neighborhood, managing invasive species, and putting in bird boxes to increase the bird habitat on the property. First, we will have an identification stage where students identify some of these problems. Then, there will be a planning stage where students create proposals for action. Then there will be the implementation stage where students implement the projects they have planned. Last, there will be a community outreach stage where students present their projects to the community.
We have already written a letter addressed to Pepsi asking them to put a recycle symbol that is easy to see on all their products. Two of our kindergarten students went around the school and got 233 signatures and we need your help to get more! Help us by 'liking' our Facebook page and sharing it with all your friends.
Basically a megablocks is when you take a few large city blocks in an area and prevent large vehicles like vans or trucks from entering forcing them to go around the perimeter. The speed limit inside the space is also limited to ten mph for any other vehicles. curbside parking is also replaced with underground parking allowing more space for pedestrians and lowering air pollution.
We are hoping to help our close community by providing warm clothing and food to those in need, and by also recycling/reusing used blankets, coats, socks and shoes, we will also help the environment.
Refugee Sharing Session with UNHCR and IOM staff and Global Perspectives and Research high school students as the start of a campaign - first projects have been joining a FUTSAL (soccer) friendly match and inviting refugee children to join the school's Halloween event.
Each month in the school year, our student leaders will collect 5,000 Rp (about 30 cents) from each student in Grades 4-12. These students are entered to win a pizza party, raffle ticket or dress down day for participating. Once per term, our Student Council and other students (ex. band members to perform) will visit the orphanage to play games/activities with the children, share lunch together and present the donations to pay for their school fees.
