Have someone at the trash/recycling/compost area after every lunch, telling people where the food or containers go. To have a group of people, everyday, take out the recycling or compost. We can use the knowledge of composting in our homes and potentially create a school garden that can grow food for the kitchen and use the compost to fertilize the soil.

We will extend the high school recycling program into the community. We will begin with curbside recycling at our school. The students will use the roots and shoots program material to identify the areas that need to be made aware of the recycling program. The students will design an advertising campaign to get the word out to their community that all recycling can be brought to our school. The students will also use their information gathering and research to identify another issue that they can help change for future sustainable projects. This program will continue each semester.
