I plan to germinate five seeds indoors, and due to the cold and frosty weather, I will wait and place the plants outside when the weather is warmer. I also encourage you to try this project too! You could help even more by planting some species that are threatened in your area.

We are going to host a carnival during lunch with traditional carnival games that have an environmental twist to them. ASB will volunteer at the event along with other environmental clubs helping out. Also, environmental organizations that we worked with throughout the year will be coming back to have a booth on campus. Student may be able to earn service hours by participating and there will be live music and prizes given out!

Change the habits of people through example. It is a community service project. If I see garbage that "someone" throws, I take a picture of it, I pick it up, I throw it where it belongs and I take a picture again. Using the layout application I upload them to a facebook group called: Leave it better that what we found. It's a closed group were I try to encourage people to do the same or at least think twice before throwing waste on the street.

TThis project is related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focussing on Global Goal 15 (Life on Land).  The participating students and teachers (Fantastic Forest Explorers!) will be supporting the Jane Goodall Institute for Wildlife Research, Education, and Conservation charity, helping to make the world a better place for people, animals and the environment. It is a cross-curricular CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) project that aims to teach subject content and skills as well as the English language to children of 3rd/4th Primary level (8-9 years old) and is adaptable for all levels of Primary education. It incorporates science, mathematics, drama, music, arts and crafts, cookery and outdoor learning. Students will explore their local forest, discover flora and fauna and the negative impacts that humans can have on woodland environments and seek solutions. We will invite an expert speaker from the Jane Goodall Institute to introduce them to a different type of forest in another part of the world and learn about the plight of the chimpanzees. By the end of the project, the students will understand the importance of the forest and the reasons why we need to look after it for current and future generations. They will be able to demonstrate this, sharing their knowledge and ideas with the local community by  performing a theatre sketch of The Gruffalo (by Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler).

My project would help my family and the environment. I will do it by asking to put a Mulch trash can for lunch and it will be sold for money for our school.

The students visiting the garden this week are in high school, so we want to test out our new Rainbow Ribbon Salad curriculum! This portion of the lesson will teach the value of “eating the rainbow” to get a variety of vitamins and nutrients in one’s diet. Our elevated curriculum will show older kids how to make healthier options in their everyday food choices. Specifically, they will be incorporating different plant parts on a home-made pizza as well as using all the colors of the rainbow to craft this delicious salad.
