this projects goal is to raise awareness of animal cruelty and animal habitat destructions. we will do this by planning fund raisers, and sending brochures all over our school, that will tell people a way they can help. which is by going to WWF and making a symbolic adoption on behalf of a friend or family member. this will be a fun way for kids to help this cause.

The students will be exposed to a number of pressing issues regarding animal welfare, and they will also be a part a week-long range of activities to help our community be a kinder place for animals and wildlife. In practice, this includes drafting letters to our local government to get a full service animal shelter for the Bronx, which aside from Queens, it’s currently the only other borough that does not have one. Additionally, they will work on promoting community involvement for animal rights campaigns with the ASPCA, the Wild Bird Fund, amongst other components like volunteering and fundraising. In the culminating phase, they will exhibit their journey and learning experiences on a final project that will be presented school wide.

The children will make bird feeders and bake doggie treats during the last two weeks of January. The bird feeders will be Cheerios strung on pipe cleaners shaped like a heart. They will donate the doggie treats to a program called "Friends of Noah". The dogs help handicapped and elderly people in need of companionship. The "Friends of Noah" will visit with a service dog during the month of February and speak to the children about the benefits and how to care for dogs.
