We made posters and we are going to put them near the Charles River Esplanade where people will take notice. We plan to talk to the Esplanade Association and the Mayor's office to tell them about the litter we saw and our desire to make our world healthy and green.

We will create a sanctuary in the wooded area just behind our school. Again our goal is to create habitat that will provide shelter, food, and water to the animals that inhabit this area. Our students will be assisting with habitat preparation, building of shelter, food/water stations for various animals, and create a viewing area a short distance from the sanctuary for viewing and studying local wildlife. We are using recycled wood for most of this project, along with recycled materials as much as possible.

By May 2018 we will improve the area around our school by planting an apple trees and by spreading wildflowers in early spring 2018. Additionally we will create other housing options for bees and native pollinators and install and maintain a mason bee house with mason bee cocoons.

We have acquired a garden box and need to add liner and dirt and flower seeds. We already have three garden boxes devoted to edibles and a garden lab program. We teach over 150 kinder gardeners about growing foods from seeds, healthy dirt and beneficial garden bugs. This project would add a much needed landing pad for butterfly's in the kindergarten area and additional strengthen our program so that we can include teaching about butterfly habitat and life cycles. We would also be providing a much needed resting spot for insects traveling over our heavy paved school.

Our project will benefit monarchs and other butterflies. We will plant a large butterfly garden with lots of milkweed and other host plants for different kinds of butterflies and pollinators as well.

I will create a garden using milkweed and other native, indigenous plants to help the monarchs. Milkweed is the only plant that they can lay their eggs on and by using that plant I can encourage them to come here and create a safe spot for them. I will create the garden at my local elementary school with a group of fifth graders. They are in a class were they have to create a project and I will be there to help mentor them.

The "Botanical Garden" project will benefit the wildlife and community by adding more diversity of vegetation. This will give younger generations exposure to the importance of persevering and appreciating the environment. Also, this adds a group volunteer activity to the community that nurtures love within each other and the environment. Furthermore, the botanical garden will educate the public about environmental protection and discourages further construction or destruction of the land that is home to various species. This project we have decided to take on greatly influences people for various reasons. Primarily, the botanical garden adds more vegetation to the environment so that more fresh, clean oxygen can be released into the air for our use. Moreover, the addition of vegetation ensures more of the excessive harmful carbon dioxide emissions can be absorbed. Although the amount of change is small, this project is significant because it cultivates an outlook of growth and greener methods from the community. Additionally, the beautiful plants add aesthetic beauty to the community and nature has proven to lower depression and aid in pain relief (especially for elders). Not only does the project help people, more importantly it helps organisms around us. As more and more construction and destruction of vegetation occur, the more habitats of vital organisms are destroyed. By making an effort to add vegetation, we diversify the ecosystem and add potential habitats for organisms. Lastly, increased vegetation can serve as food for herbivores. Essentially, our wish for this project is to improve our neighborhood community by adding vegetation, preserve the vegetation that is already present and alert the public about environmental protection.
