We are constructing a box for our school. In this box we will collect german "Pfandflaschen" directly translatet to "deposit bottles". For every bottle you get in Germany 25cent back. These bottles will be recycled. We donate the money to Mary´s Meals. With 25cent you can support a child 5 days with food!

It will enable people and students to stay healthy and fit. I will do it by teaching simple exercises and karate steps to my schoolmates.
We will build a garden in the back yard of the school that is fenced to keep out the deer that are prevalent eaters here, with raised beds to be used for planting in the spring of 2018. The garden will be built by parent volunteers from our school, including members of the newly formed Green Committee. The design for the garden will be a collaborative effort between parents, teachers, and children.
Goal is to increase writing across the content area by introducing digital literacy activities. Each activity will follow the same general procedure. 1. Students will be introduced to a concept. Activity will take approximately 2 days. (Example for math: integers) 2. Students will practice and analyze concept. Activity will take approximately 3 days. (Example: hands-on activity) 3. Students will research and write about the concept. Activity will take approximately 5 days. (Example: research and write about math based careers) 4. Students will produce a podcast, vlog, or blog as a culminating assessment of understanding. Activity will take approximately 2 weeks. (Example: Vlog on real world use of integers)
Digitally literate students can judge, create, and convey information in the digital world. Creating 21st century learners who are digitally literate is a priority. I plan to have students use technology to enhance their writing skills by creating blogs, vlogs, and podcasts throughout content classes. I will use this money to help create a recording studio in our middle school, so the money will go toward microphones, padcasters, and other recording equipment. The recording studio will be used in cross curricular projects (with science and social studies). The topics will include the importance of reducing waste and reusing/recycling materials, human community and human condition (through the topic of the Holocaust and various other historical conflicts), and the importance of various species of wildlife (in different geographical locations).
Our vision is to have a creative, welcoming writing lab equipped with alternative seating and lighting that offers a different feel than the traditional classroom. While our ideal circumstance would be to have every classroom equipped with alternative seating, we realize that you have to start somewhere. Since writing is a critical component of every other subject, we thought, "Why not start with our writing lab?" By providing our students with wobble cushions, yoga mats, exercise balls, video game chairs, and dry erase tables, we are hoping to create a fun environment where our kids can get excited about writing. Our plan is to allow allow students to use the writing lab as a place where they can focus solely on the writing process. All of our flexible seating options will help students use up their excess energy instead of having that energy manifest as a distraction in the classroom. This will allow students to focus on producing the best writing possible.
The Nshara Parents School Conservation Club (NPSCC) encompasses a variety of initiatives aimed at instilling a commitment to environmental stewardship in Uganda’s next generation and encouraging more sustainable ways of living. We work with students and teachers within the school to improve knowledge about the environment, increase awareness of conservation issues, and encourage participation in fun, hands-on activities that ‘act locally’ to make a difference. We work with teachers and local experts to ensure our program focus is timely and relevant to current conservation concerns. We also continuously evaluate our efforts to assess their efficacy and inform future directions. Our project is an educational forum and expo hosted by students that will educate and unite the community. We will have local and regional businesses and organizations that support sustainability, be present to educate our students on the career opportunities in this growing field and also educate our community on how to live more economically, efficiently, and sustainably.
We would like to help remedy poor soil quality by providing nutrients back into the soil through adding worms and compost. Adding Earthworms into our garden soil will help decompose dead organisms and increase the quality of the soil. Composting will also help our school be more sustainable.
Starting with my own clothes, mostly outgrown pants (soft material), my sister and I will turn them into pillows that can be used by cancer treatment centers or even the humane society. Whether people in a cancer treatment chair or an animal in a humane society kennel, they deserve to be comfortable. We are learning how to reuse our old clothes, learning how to sew, and learning how to give and bring smiles to others. We are even attaching a hand written inspirational message to the ones going to the cancer center.
