Caring for Girls is a non-profit organization that depends on community funds to facilitate workshops. Seeing domestic violence first hand has influenced my mission. My project will make a difference to females who left their home due to domestic violence. We will assist females with toiletries items to make a difference in a small way. I will put in time, and the money will help with the financial needs of the program.

During Earth Week, 2015, teachers in our three elementary schools will put out homemade little boxes and invite children to bring in their loose change to contribute to the drive. In the process, the children will learn about Haiti and the problems that exist there with poverty, sanitation, and soil degradation. Our theme for Earth Week is soil and how important it is to take care of it in order to grow our food and feed us and the people of the world.

We will get volunteers to help clean up around our towns. We will find easier ways for people to communicate. We are all friends in our community. We support each other with everything we do. We are fun, creative, and like helping the children so they have a safe environment. Drugs and underage Alcohol is something we do not support in this town. We will never support something that can create failure. We love, help, and encourage the youth of our communities. We will get activities in the winter, spring, and summer for the kiddos. Winter --Sledding time with friends, Snow shoeing on trails, or just playing out side in a public area for fun! In the summer-- swimming, bike rides with friends and walks with no worries. In the fall-- getting out side for some public flag football, bonfires, helping out the community (etc. raking, sweeping, and mowing.)

Our project originated at Hillside Intermediate School where students were welcomed by an introduction about Martin Luther King Day and the significance of Martin Luther King's philosophy. In order to honor this, small groups of staff, community members, and students volunteered their day off to provide services at local organizations; services such as sorting donations at a family aid center and putting on a talent show for seniors. After providing services, small groups traveled back to Hillside School to reflect on their day and how it linked to Martin Luther King's work. Almost all whom reflected felt proud of their contribution and were motivated to do it again.

A lower elementary class in Lexington Montessori School chose to engage the school community and ask that everyone recycle devices that were no longer being used. The class spoke to parents, staff and students about the issues of coltan mining. Groups made signs and drop boxes, some took time to speak to each and every class and others manned collection areas. The class chose one day where everyone could easily drop their devices before and after school during drop off and pick up. An email was sent to the school community so that everyone was aware of the recycling day.
