To solve the environmental issue of increased trash and litter in the ecosystem, we propose to advocate protecting the environment by raising awareness for the damage caused by such pollution. We intend on making posters that promote students to pick up their own pieces of trash after lunch to ensure that we play our part in preserving the environment.

We took our weekend and decided to go on a small hike and clean up the region of the track trail. We took our trash bags, work gloves, and plenty of water and began our afternoon long venture out to the trail. Within the first hundred meters or so, groupings of trash were visible, and we set out to work. It is our goal to make the homeowners and cross country team more aware of how their use of the trail impacts the ecosystems in place.

The main goal of the project is to beautify a bland, sewer oriented area planted in the center of a neighborhood in Cedar Park. Six grams of mixed wildflower seeds are projected to plant, grow, bloom, pollinate, and repeat as they spread all across the sewer area. According to forestry.gov, the benefits of wildflower plant and growth include: plant diversity attracting insects and other invertebrates, adding a change in palate of color to an urban area, and activating the community around the affected area to maintain and create opportunity for natural studies and art lessons.

We plan to plant a few milkweed plants which attract butterflies. We want to perform this action because we think butterflies are crucial to our environment.

Selin & I are going to build birdhouses & put them up in a local park with a high bird population & little trees to provide shelter & food for them.
United States
Our project will provide shade and food for the birds. We will build and paint a birdhouse and hang it up in a tree.
United States
We chose to build a birdhouse because though it is something small, it makes a huge impact on the surrounding environment. By providing birds with a cool shelter, we are inviting them to make a difference in our area. Without birds, our ecological system would be thrown off and take time to repair.

In order to improve the environmental habitat in our school community, we will go around our block and collect all of the trash left by the students at Cedar Park High School. This is only a temporary solution, but in order to stop or reduce the pollution caused by the students, we plan to create posters, not only informing about the long term environmental consequences, but the short term ones, as well. We will post these posters throughout the school to hopefully inform the students about the harm they are doing when they engage in simple acts like leaving trash on the ground.

Our grant will fund the purchase of plants, supplies and tools to plant the garden. Students in 2nd-3rd grade and the Nature Club will work together to plant, water and maintain the garden. We welcome all classes to use this area as an outdoor classroom and observe that when we "grow it - they will come!"

Our project will take a piece of land that needs some TLC and turn it into a garden area. We will clean and clear existing vegetation and replace it with California Native plants that will attract and sustain butterflies, bees and birds.
