My project will be started by taking cuttings of native plants already present in my neighborhood, such as Wild Tamarind, Gumbo Limbo, and Fire Bush. I will then plant them around my school with the help of the rest of Ecology Club. I will add to our thriving native garden and create a "mini-forest" that will help increment the amounts of native insects, birds, and other small animals.

For this project, we will first need to get land somewhere that is convenient and accessible to all people. We may have to write a letter to the government to provide us with this piece of land, and raise donations for other expenses. After that, for a whole day or more, we will welcome members of the community to help prepare and plant the park. After everything has grown- which should take no more than 3 months-, the park will be open to the public. To maintain the park, it will be divided into different sections and each section will be put up for adoption, so the park will be run by the community. We will also employ the local unemployed people in the community to help maintain the park.

I will remove buck thorn, which is one of the most aggressive invasive species in my region. Around the natural pond in the preserve there are willows and other noninvasive species that are being smothered by the buck thorn. Almost five years ago a tornado traveled directly through the land and killed many of the pine trees, I will work to remove the dead and fallen trees to restore the peaceful serenity in the preserve.
