Our project will increase the number of native plants on campus, increase the number of wildlife that use the plants, and educate fellow students, staff and community about the importance of going native in gardens and park ways. We will create a demonstration garden and signs and posters that exhibit how each plant contributes to the ecosystem, conserves water and prevents extinction.

Our educational campaign will use Facebook, a social network that connects people of all ages. We will provide general and specific information about waterfowl alongside other content that will quack you up. In the long-term, we will petition to have signage changed in Ottawa, Ontario to be more informative and attention-grabbing.

Our project will make all animals safe. Raise awareness through the news. Put posters on the bins. Have a clean up day at school and at the beach. Rubbish monitors in the yard.

In 2013, the Teen’s main job at the Sacramento Zoo is to work public education stations to teach visitors about wildlife conservation. In addition to working public education stations teens will volunteer at several zoo events, including; Museum Day, Earth Fest, Zoo Zoom, Where the Wild Kids Are, Summer Camp, Family Overnight Safari’s, Twilight Thursdays, Ice Cream Safari, Boo at the Zoo, and Holiday Magic. In addition to working zoo events, the teens organize, create, and implement the I Heart Sacramento Zoo enrichment event. In 2013, nearly 3,000 visitors attended I Heart Sacramento Zoo. In addition to general zoo admission, visitors get to see the animals enjoy all of the teen made enrichment and listen to the teens give enrichment talks at 13 different animal exhibits.

Our project will visit various animal environments within our community, create replica animal environments to study in our classrooms, and hold a mini earth day fair around the topic of helping the community to save the natural habitats of animals in our environments.

Go to a variety of wildlife habitats, identify wildlife by sound, sight, and scent. Collect fishing line from recycle bins and recycle it. Test pond and stream water to see extent of pollution. Check on condition turtle rafts and replace as necessary. Determine if native turtles re using it or invasive turtles.

Here are some basic things we can do to help the environment: Not littering does the same thing as picking litter up; just not littering saves more of your own energy than picking it up. Saving water in the sink and shower reduces the load on sewer clean age plants, which pollute the air. Turning lights off can also help, as long as you don't turn them on, then off, then on again, because that wastes even more energy. We can make a positive difference if we all act to save the beauty and nature of the earth.

On December 6th 2014, people around the world will spend a few hours picking up litter in their street, neighbourhood, local park, beach, workplace school, or wherever they can, to make the world green and clean again, and safe for wildlife. As a club, we are focusing both locally and abroad. Our school is in need of trash removal and cleaning up school grounds. We will have an official clean-up on Oct 23 with the National Honors society and the Environmental club. We are also helping to pass this message to the children of Rwanda by partnering with the charity Hope Shines and creating posters on drinking water safety. We will also be fundraising to purchase personal water filters for the children in Rwanda.
