We are a team of eight primary school students from the private school "Elliniki Paedia". We are working on a power point which we are going to present to the students of the public school of our neighbourhood. The content will be the harmful effects of the wood smoke of fireplaces on the atmosphere and our health. We aim at informing students and motivate them to discuss about this problem with their parents. Moreover, we are going to inform them about the proper ways of using fireplaces that will not pollute our environment. We will print leaflets with instructions about the proper use of fireplaces which we will give to the students to take home. Additionally we are going to distribute these leaflets to residents mainly to local shops and places many residents visit.

We will be learning about this during our weekly Roots & Shoots after school enrichment time. We will be using Project Learning Tree curriculum to understand more about our environment and the human impact that we have through our everyday actions. We will learn more about what plants and trees are around us and how they help us and how we can help them. We will investigate which plants and trees we need more of to balance our local ecosystem. We will be able to identify what plants and trees we currently have and, if needed, plant additional trees and plants.
