In front of my school we have a 20 foot by 30 foot piece of grass that is not being used for anything. We also have a fig tree and a plum tree with some bulbs that could use some company. I want my school to be attractive to when parents come in and see how much pride we take in the outside appearance and the community around. There are a lot of urban farmers also in the neighborhood and I would like to purchase native bee food plants to attract more bees and help both ours and their plants.

After community mapping, it was uncovered how the space directly behind our school needs attention and care. Recently, the amount of trash and pet waste on the path has dramatically increased and is making it difficult and unpleasant for bike riders, hikers and runners to utilize. The students who participate in the K-Kids Program will write up a proposal to the local government advocating for clean-up and asking permission for placement of waste containers. In addition, the club will purchase and instal materials, create posters in both Spanish and English to educate the community around the needs of keeping the trail clean, and maintaining the Pet Waste Station.
Namibia
We created an iMovie about the beauty of Namibia and encouraged students at our school to tell their families to use reusable bags instead of plastic. Our slogan is Plastic is NOT Fantastic.

My project is going to include having a bunch of booths at my school around campus for students to stop by and learn about taking care of the Earth in a different way each time. I am hoping to have booths such as Poison Free Malibu, a wildlife organization, Go Go Squeeze (our sponsor), Heal the Bay Club, Roots & Shoots Club, and Campus Beautification Club. I am also going to have Make Up Club at my school to face paint at the event. There will also be live music with a student band performing! This event required a lot of planning and work, but I started way in advance and I am very excited for event day!

Our project will teach students how to plant shrubs and flowers and sustain them. They will experiment with color schemes, varying plant textures, and patterns to help create visually pleasing and engaging gardens within their courtyard for enjoyment and sensory enlightenment. This project will introduce to students the importance of caring and nurturing living things in order for them to be healthy and robust.

Promote resourcefulness and encourage creativity. Discourage single use plastic bottles and develop a simplistic informative curriculum that focuses on shaping a child's ideology centralized on the complexities of ecology. Actively engage the children in projects that communicates this idea that the smallest contribution has the capability of affecting our environment in a larger scale. These projects will involve the kids taking initiative in "eco gardening," (not limited to this creative alternative) teaching them valuable qualities that is beneficial to their development; responsibility, perspective, and determination.
