We are going to use the month of December to educate people on what is happening and why it is important. We will go on our high school's news videos, newspaper, and create posters and morning announcements to get the word out. During January, we will sell pins that say "I Stand with Standing Rock" (we figured more people would donate to the cause if they know what it is first). The money gathered from the pins will be donated to the efforts to stop the pipeline and protect Native Americans.
To complete this project my Roots & Shoots group will hold a week long Thanksgiving Food Drive collecting nonperishable goods from the community and a 2 week long fundraising competition between the different parts of my school to raise money for the turkeys. My club will also decorate boxes to decorate in order to put the 150 meals in to deliver to the families.
We will begin by ordering pens and bags. We will also create forms to give it each guest. With this we will ensure that each guest feels as welcome to our church, in hopes that they will return.
Our group through "Operation Identification" will participate in a three-fold program that will involve: 1. Developing posters, flyers, etc. to make the community aware of the resources available to them in rescued animals, medical services (both emergency and continued care,) and wildlife game preserves. 2. Establishing a "Community Volunteer Day" at the local animal shelter to assist with a day of care for the animals and involving the community of the shelter's location, function, and services. 3. Press awareness involving the students participation at the shelter and mailing out 'thank-you' letters to those who assisted on the community involvement day. We will develop a follow-up system through students calling those services presented to discover if their services Increased/Decreased/ or Remained the Same after our initial start. Since the forming of our "Roots-and-Shoots" campaign, I rescued a baby squirrel that had its home destroyed through the falling of a tree after a storm. I raised the squirrel from a few days old throughout the year, and as we were wrapping up out school year, we returned "Oscar" the squirrel in the wild, as it should be. Our Roost-and-Shoots group kept up with Oscar's growth and progress, and celebrated as he was released into the wild. After a week, he seems to be thriving, yet does appreciate our little visits!
To solve the problem has a group. To talk and discuss the problem and come up with an action plan to improve the problem as a team.
The project would take place in March, April, and May 2017 when Haiti Plunge high school youth teams will be on-site in Haiti to work on the project with their Haitian peers.
It will create education and reflection of future actions local people can do with the comunity, as well as the recognition of the amazing art who exist in México and is not known
