I plan on getting these trees to produce fruit for the community, and feed the community with healthy options. I have researched what trees would be able to produce the most fruit in New England. The top 5 trees I'd like to receive funding for is Meyer Lemons, Black Cherries, Apples, Navel Oranges, and Peaches. I have lined up on a Document when these fruits would be ready to harvest off of the trees. From my lay out, every month would be able to harvest at least one fruit.

Part of the beauty of the Grow Baton Rouge YEZ Urban Gardening initiative is that it will help bring our community together and unite them. The “neighborhood sharing” portion of the program seeks to allow youth and community members who grow different things to barter with others to fulfill a full range of vegetables for their households. When people begin to help feed each other, this creates a bond and a certain trust that allows so much more!

The KYE-YAC CLUBHOUSE will be designed to inspire youth and engage them in science through exploration, investigation, play, and literacy. We will have weekly programs aimed at inspiring pre-school children to have compassion for the earth and all life that inhabits it. It will be specifically designed for encouraging preschool-aged children to meaningfully examine and experience the everyday world around them. We will have the KYE-YAC CLUBHOUSE present innovative learning opportunities in a safe environment. The focal point of the new exhibit will be a unique “tree house” which toddlers can climb around and explore. Next to the treehouse, local artists will create an original mural depicting a giant tree with three-dimensional leaves filling the walls with native animals and birds - adding visual stimulation to further spark the curiosity of young “scientots” as they explore the world around them. Age appropriate books will be available to foster literacy based learning and programs will be held several times a week with science projects, crafts, reading, and play!
