I already presented my students an intoductory Power Point that Dr. Rick Asselta, Group Leader for Puerto Rico and Latin America, provided me when we co-taught the Urban Ecology (Roots and Shoots University Program, Jane Goodall Org.) (ANTH 3045) some years ago. We also saw the Questar/Nature Documentary Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees at the classroom.

My project will raise money for local animal shelters. We are starting small and will slowly expand. We will have fundraisers. A blog and You-tube page is being set up. The blog is called "Pinky's Puppy Blog." Our beginning goal is to provide better living conditions in shelters, since getting all animals a family will be harder to reach.

Help provide adequate housing to keep injured and abandoned duckies safe from predators and up to code, provide emergency supplies in case needed and sanitary care. Due to the local bird sancuaries closing in our area, there is no place of refuge for our feathered duckies!

The members of Skills Unlimited Inc. will record and map places of interest to better understand the distances between them and their local surrounding. Additionally, by accomplishing this goal, members of the day habilitation program, will be able to become more integrated in the community by obtaining a stronger comprehension of how to navigate the local communities that they inhabit.

We will get volunteers to help clean up around our towns. We will find easier ways for people to communicate. We are all friends in our community. We support each other with everything we do. We are fun, creative, and like helping the children so they have a safe environment. Drugs and underage Alcohol is something we do not support in this town. We will never support something that can create failure. We love, help, and encourage the youth of our communities. We will get activities in the winter, spring, and summer for the kiddos. Winter --Sledding time with friends, Snow shoeing on trails, or just playing out side in a public area for fun! In the summer-- swimming, bike rides with friends and walks with no worries. In the fall-- getting out side for some public flag football, bonfires, helping out the community (etc. raking, sweeping, and mowing.)

Kids and Canines works with at-risk teens, teaching them how to train assistance dogs. The bond between student and dog help these at-risk youths succeed . . . and then the dogs go on to have productive working lives, providing independence to individuals with disabilities. Kids and Canines provides trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities and children with autism throughout central Florida. The dogs also change the lives of at-risk middle school students, who learn to care for, groom, and train the dogs during the school day. As part of the Hillsborough County School District, we are able to uniquely connect with teachers and school administration, resulting in truly remarkable transformations in our student trainers. After training, our dogs go on to assist individuals with disabilities in performing daily tasks, help children with autism lead fuller, more independent lives and ease stress on parents and family members. Our dogs also work with professionals in schools, health care facilities and crisis counseling centers.
