Using Esri and ArcGIS mapping software, I will map the impact, incineration, and health zones that represent areas where people, animals, and the environment would be affected by the compressor station. The map will be printed on a 2x3 foam board, and displayed at a local harvest block party.

Create a sanctuary fro birds in order for them to have a place to rest and hopefully nest. This will be accomplished by creating an ecosystem similar to that found in the near by hills of my school. The project consist in having a secluded place of my school (With the least amount of human interaction), clean it, remove those species that do not belong to the target ecosystem and reforest with trees and bushes that will ultimately grow to create the target environment.

Our www.OneLessStraw.org website also allows the pledge forms to be filled out electronically and we even have an interactive map which will show you the number of people that have signed up in a particular zip or postal code. it will also list every business and school that has signed the pledge as well. Every time you submit a pledge, your name goes into our raffle where we will be giving away cool prizes at the end of the campaign.

My project will create and set up a lasting garden program at my highschool in which the whole community will partake in as well as renovate and landscape other areas outside around my school to encourage students to spend more time outside in these comfortable environments and be more eager to go to school. I will achieve this by applying for numerous grants and receiving support from the town.

We will assist by making signs and posters. We will talk to our families and neighbors and spread the word (maybe even look for a Helping Hand). We have learned mapping skills on Google Maps. Working as a Team has taught us that when we put our minds and efforts to things, we CAN make them better and get the job done!

PS 132 students raise money in their annual Penny Harvest and use the funds to give back to the community. Students have consistently chosen to donate a portion of the funds to the Garden every year.

We would like to learn from the Roots and Shoots program, how to work more effectively with the community; not just with providing sustainable waste management solutions (to people around protected areas where no system of waste management has ever existed) but also with improving living standards and increasing livelihood options for the community members.
