My intention is to help the others to get more information about the truth behind the animal products consume and how harmful it is, both for animals and for human beings. I want you to take a little moment and read a little about this big international problem. (Mi intención es ayudar a los demás a informarse sobre la realidad detrás del consumo de productos animales y sobre lo perjudicial que es, tanto para animales como para humanos. Me gustaría que se tomase un momento para leer un poco sobre este gran problema internacional.)

We will have a special Dr. Goodall Day at the Mid-America Science Museum devoted to teaching youth about her life, work, accomplishments, and goals for the future. We will read several books about her and let the kids choose an activity they would like to emulate as Dr. Jane did in the Gombe. Observational skills with handmade binoculars will be a project in which they get to search areas around the museum they think they might find a chimp! After a day of learning and creating birthday cards for Dr. Goodall, the kids will celebrate!

Wynwood is a growing community where art is fostered and expanding. Being exposed to this as children and young adults will improve their creativity and relationship with humanities and liberal arts. We will be able to easily locate a bus stop on N. Miami Ave from Downtown right at the edge of the Wynwood District. We will also be more active, happier, healthier, more connected and safer when riding public transportation. We have applied to a non-fro profit Miami-Dade Quick Build Challenge where it could have the chance to have support and be implemented by the community! Progress will be updated.

My research and personal experience points to the fact that the success of any community program should be deeply rooted in its local context, and should not be replicated without first being adapted. You can’t take one already successful program and just drop it into another country or community. You’ve got to take the principles, and then be willing to adjust that over a period of time. I worked with several community members in Batey Libertad to create surveys to understand what prevented girls from playing sports or, for that matter, even just playing outside. We found that while some girls were comfortable playing with boys, others preferred a girls-only environment. We also found that available free time was limited because of household responsibilities. This information led us to adjust our ideas for the programming of a girls-only soccer club called "Girls Outside". We wish to create a flexible girls-only soccer club for ages 8-16 that meets on Saturday afternoons. We are still experimenting with the time and day of the week to maximize participation. We will separate the time into 2 hours: 1 hour of practice/play and 1 hour of group sharing. We are seeking donations for soccer equipment, for paper and colored pencils for journaling and self-expressive activities, and for team/club shirts.

My project will inform the community about education and bring together a social group to promote health. I will come up with a small campaign and fliers that will inform the community about topics such as: family, education, health. I want to form a community group to provide workshops about healthy living, being aware of diabetes. Having cooking classes or healthy diets to stay healthy. Also ways to exercise everyday whether it's walking or jogging. I want to help school age children maintain a great diet and being healthy.

The Wish Tree Team will plant a small umbrella tree in our town's community field/park and they will mount a small mailbox next to the tree and keep it supplied with tags and writing utensils. Anyone can fill out a tag with their wishes/hopes or dreams and hang it from a branch on the tree.
