The #ProjectPeace initiative will consist of: the facilitation of creatively formatted interviews, the offering of "Peace Pledge" cards, conference style engagement with government leaders, collaboration with mental health professionals and community peacemakers, and seasonal hosting of arts events that will draw the attention of local, national, and global leaders through a documentary style production. Through its digital and social media sharing component, we will create awareness of this important cause throughout the world. We will measure the success of the initiative by tracking the amount of "Peace Pledges" we receive (in-person and online), funding raised, resolutions obtained through government officials and policymakers, social media engagement, event attendees, changes in statistics on violence as reported by respective police departments, and our organization's capacity building.

This year, we would like to focus on starting and maintaining an effective recycling program in our school community. We have learned about the importance of conserving our natural resources.

Our project here on campus will be an open green space for students to learn and take a break. The plan is to include native, drought resistant plants, a place for the students to sit, and some sort of water feature to encourage the students to relax and reflect. There is a space in the back of the school that is open and unused and could really use some beautification. Our plan is to take that space and make it useful again by planting plants, adding seating, and creating a restful space.

We will be conducting a beautification (removing litter) at a local park, York Park. This area is quite busy with families casually visiting, however we are aware that the litter surrounding the park diminishes the quality of the experience at the park. We created an event where the community can gather and together clean up the park and the surrounding areas. For food and water we reached out to local markets for donations, and luckily one said they'd be happy to cooperate. The local city council is also happy to lend us cleaning supplies, such as gloves and plastic bags. It is a fairly simple set up and hopefully the results will be worth the effort.

We will be establishing a learning garden by renovating a plot of land. We will plant trees to create some shadier areas, and plant only native plants. Our garden will be split into a butterfly garden, edible plants garden, and native plants garden with benches and walking paths between each plot. We will also retrofit a rainwater collection basin to provide water for the plants. Students will help out in based on their grade level, with younger students helping to paint and lay bricks to outline each plot and older students helping with more heavy lifting-esque activities.

We will work with LA Conservation Corp and Tree People to create raised bed gardens. Our first School Beautification day is Saturday, October 8th starting at 9:00 AM. Tree People is coming to work with the students on Tuesday, September 13 to design the garden.

Kids On Board will create a space where children can contribute and display their own work on human diversity. This will concretize the lessons they learn on the topic and serve as a catalyst for conversation in the broader community as well. By giving ownership of the process to children, we further empower them to become the empathetic adults our world so desperately needs!

Bring the beauty and art of music to the community. We will work with children daily to ensure the musical education aspect is broadened in their span of life. The opportunities will be visible to all qualified families in the community.

What my project will do is to improve the beauty of my city, provide enough shade for people could stop using AC, and it will help people with their health. A group of students and I will go around Huntington Park and plant trees in parks and homes.
