Peace, Love & Hope promotes anti-bullying through art workshops, public presentations, personal story exchange, outreach and exhibitions. Children are invited to participate in batik workshops, where they are taught the techniques and have the opportunity to create individual pieces on the theme of peace, love and hope. The pieces are then assembled into large-scale quilts which Avy tours and exhibits at museums, cultural centres, schools and international children’s festivals, raising awareness and visibility for the anti-bullying cause. The member of the club will read and research about famous girls and women who have shown bravery and grit in their lives and in their passions. They will conduct projects and activities based on the information they learn that will help to strengthen their self esteem, their perseverance and their community engagement (sharing projects with the school and town community).
Susick students will visit their senior friends at Oakmont Assisted Living to interview them and write their Life Stories.
We would like a add a social media component in which leaders could log their leadership status, photos, or pledges to be a positive leader in their community. Dare Leaders will come together for a culminating event to celebrate achievements. This may also be an opportunity to discuss local issues and how the school community can support their overall mental health and wellness goals.
I want my project to encourage everybody who can to start helping elephants. Just spreading the word about anti-elephant poaching would help. I have been making speeches, putting up flyers, and sending emails to my family and friends and I will continue to do that but I need help so please do what you can to save elephants!
We don't know yet.
Volunteers will help run an arts and crafts table and do face painting for children at the library and community arts center. The event provides artists with a venue to exhibit their work and offer original art and craft items for sale.
I am creating awareness through art work , a picture says more than thousands of words
With the Roots & Shoots $200 mini grant, I will put together menstrual hygiene product "kits" for the food pantry/assistance program. These "kits" will contain items such as pads, tampons, underwear, bar soap, and toothpaste. I will also be sewing reusable cloth pads, since they can alleviate the costs of disposable menstrual hygiene products. After talking with the food pantry director, we decided to start out with 20 pads as a trial period. I will also be creating informational pamphlets about menstruation and the menstrual movement for community members.
We will meet with restaurant management, owners, and distributers to achieve these goals over time. We will also reach out to volunteer organizations in an effort to increase our manpower and thus timeframe of the overall project.
