Our project will grow flowers, crops, and provide students with opportunities to design and develop new ideas. The students' designs and ideas are all discussed and implemented through their special classes such as tech ed, art, PE, Family Consumer Science, and Library Science.

I am going to plant a vegetable garden in my backyard. I'm going to plant lettuce, onion, spinach, and carrots. First I'm going to grow the seeds inside tell they sprout and then I will plant them outside each in a different pots, where they will get plenty of sun. Every day I will check on the plant's growth and water them.

My project is taking the form of an independent study at school and has the following components: research, a paper, a film showing, and several final presentations. The film will be one that I feel is informative and accurate about palm oil production, and my plan is to set up a time after school where peers from my high school can come and watch. The final presentation will be a culmination of the research I do over the course of the semester and I'll be presenting it to the school I currently attend, the school I attended for lower and middle school, and a few others if I can get permission. The overall goal is to make this issue known to my local community and let them know how they can take action!

A group of volunteers will help to renovate (and then maintain) the edible garden using recycled supplies. When vegetables/fruit are ready to be harvested, they will be given to the local zoo, so that the wild animals' food is fresh. Some of the plants include figs, beets, banana tree leaves, corn stalks, and catnip.

Our students are going learn about what it takes to make grow and harvest their own vegetables. To do this, we will build and maintain a raised garden bed, learn about different plant, how they grown, and how we can help other's with what we are learning.

To complete this project, we applied for (and received!) two small grants to help with purchasing supplies. We researched and selected the most appropriate structure for our budget. We also met with our cafeteria service in regards to the farm-to-table portion of the project. And, of course, we had a community build date when we raised the structure!
