Every April a speaker will be invited to present at the assembly. Included at the assembly maybe students singing songs about environmental issues and a "recycle fashion show" where a queen and king of recycling will be crowned. We will also recognize any students and adults that have volunteered extra time to help our "green" efforts.

Gardening offers hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in a wide array of disciplines. School gardening offers children opportunities for outdoor exercise while teaching them a useful skill. There is mounting evidence that active learning in less structured, participatory spaces like gardens is more likely to transform children’s food attitudes and habits, and that school gardening, especially when combined with a healthy lunch program or nutritional education, encourages more healthful food choices. R&S students of Kanamba P/S started up a garden at school which has maize, cabbages and egg plants. students plan after harvesting to sell some of their produce to buy scholastic materials for the needy/orphans in the school.

Hopefully, the posters will be placed in areas for our school and community to see so that people can help us make our school campus and Tucson a better place to live. We want to help instill pride and get more people doing their part to do what is right for the community. We will begin our projects once we return from spring break. Rather than focus on just one area, the class wanted to break up into smaller groups to cover the following ideas: recycle/reuse/reduce, the hazards of littering, and the importance of planting and taking care of our desert vegetation.

Students from our Earth and Recycling committees in our Arroyo IB Student Ambassador group will work with Curiosity Quest's Joel Greene http://www.curiosityquest.org/ to educate themselves about how to water audit a front yard. They will then take this knowledge and apply to an actual home. They will work together to adjust water timers, add mulch to planter areas, and change out leaky or wasteful sprinkler heads. All their work will be a part of a new PBS program called "Curiosity Quest Problem Solvers." This has the potential to impact millions of viewers!
