Cooking For a Cause

Debbie Daehnick the group leader of Pioneer Elementary Roots & Shoots received a $1,000 UnitedHealth HEROES grant last year to support their promotion for healthy lifestyles. Their recently completed cookbook does just that by providing fun and healthy recipes for kids and adults to try. In addition to the recipes the book offers healthy tips, food related jokes as well as humorous anecdotes from the group's members regarding healthy foods. The book is written in both English and Spanish. So far the group has raised $300.00 for the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado and the group hopes to raise even more.
