This Month's Feature: Peace Day is Around the Corner! The Roots & Shoots Day of Peace is this September 19th. Has your group stared planning your Peace Day projects? If you are in Chicago, we have wo opportunties for you to celebrate with us. The first, a World Peace Flag Ceremony, is on Friday, September 17th in Daley Plaza at noon. For the third year in a row we will be celebrating with our friends from the Build the Peace Committee. The celebration features the a colorful procession of the world’s flags carried by Roots & Shoots members, the Chicago Consular Corps, and volunteers. The second, a family Peace Day celebration, will be held on Saturday, September 18th at Rainbow Beach on Chicago's Southside. The day will kick off at 11am with a World Peace Flag Ceremony and a welcome by one of our Regional Youth Leadership Council Members. Peace workshops will be held inside the field house from 11:30am-2pm. To close the day at 2pm, we will have a Giant Peace Dove Puppet Parade along the lakefront and around the park. Roots & Shoots groups are invited to bring their Giant Peace Dove Puppets to fly in the parade.
