Roots & Shoots New England

The New England region is home to 250 Roots & Shoots groups, involving 7,000 youth who are motivated and ready to make a difference in New England! We work with Roots & Shoots groups and organizational partners in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Meet Our Regional Staff!

Sally Sharp Lehman, Regional Director
Sally came to Roots & Shoots from the Massachusetts Audubon Society, where she served for eight years as regional director for Southeastern Massachusetts. She holds a master's degree in management from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor of arts degree in economics and French from Duke University. Sally has a passion for the outdoors, a strong background in educational issues and a love of children, especially her own two sons.

 

Kellan Hays,
Media and Program Coordinator
A former Roots & Shoots New England intern, Kellan now handles regional media relations and materials, plus has the privilege of mentoring the New England Youth Leadership Council and College Leadership Council as the New England Media and Program Coordinator. Previously she worked with the Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group (MASSPIRG) and MoveOn PAC (Political Action Committe). Kellan earned a bachelor's degree from Tulane University, majoring in sociology and communications.

 

Theresa Kolpakova,
Area Coordinator
Theresa is a naturalist, educator and environmentalist whose passion for combining humane education, therapy and nature-based experiential activities has led her to  pursue a graduate program in Education and Community Arts at Lesley University, where she is currently the part-time Area Coordinator with Roots & Shoots. Theresa hopes to inspire exploration of nature connections through implementation of programs that encourage curiosity and discovery through experiential learning as well as respect, understanding and compassion for all beings.
