The Roots & Shoots Northeast College Leadership Council

The Northeast College Leadership Council (NECLC) intends to help R&S college groups in the Northeast unite and coordinate acts of service, recruit new R&S members, connect with the R&S National College Leadership Council and meet other active college students around the globe.

The NECLC is a wonderful example of how college students can take charge of change—fueled by common passions for the environment and the human community, this council is a great outlet for collective organizing and leadership development that will make positive impacts locally and globally. Members also act as role models in the university community and the R&S global community.

"My favorite event was the Jane Goodall Global Youth Summit, because it showed me just how large the Roots & Shoots family really is, with talented and inspiring youth leaders from all over the world. My favorite moment during the Summit was hearing the teens express issues from their countries and how everyone listened and became eager to do something for the issues addressed. In fact, this discussion became so inspiring that campaigns and organizations to fight some of these global issues were created, such as the Israeli-Palestinian Peace group and the Global Youth Council for Wildlife Conservation. This event made me feel very connected with young adults from all over the world."
