Catalina Elizabeth Clavijo Palacios

My life has been always around soil and plants. Since I was little girl, I enjoyed the country side, because there I could really see nature and its wonderful living things. Later on, I decided to study Agribusiness Engineering in my country Ecuador, and my interest for organic agriculture was born. For me it’s a permanent goal to achieve a healthier, less invasive and cultural appropriate agriculture. I continued my learning process by getting a Master’s Degree in Socio-environmental Studies at FLACSO, which gave me a social perspective to my technical background.

I believe that environmental education processes strengthen communities and are essential to build generations that internalize a different way of life, from our small daily actions to the footprint we leave on the global community. Actually, this has become a passion and daily acting in my life, so I managed to become an environmental coordinator in an educational institution, where I work with the future generations. I also, strongly, believe that processes of food sovereignty can strength local producers, and are necessary to build better communities, with an equitable access to local and healthier food for a healthy territory. That is the dream!
