History with Roots & Shoots: Seven years with Roots & Shoots

Abby is from Rehoboth, Massachusetts and attends Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA). She is excited to begin her sixth year on the council! Her favorite Roots & Shoots project so far has been a menstrual hygiene product drive that she named Project: Pink. Her goal for this project was to assist homeless and low-income people living in her area by donating menstrual hygiene products to local food pantries and assistance programs. She also aimed to address the stigma surrounding menstruation in her community. With the support of her community, over 200 boxes of pads and tampons were collected and donated to the Rehoboth Food Pantry! In her free time, she can be seen exploring state parks, reading a good book, or playing guitar.
